The lack of awareness or visible support for #DisabilityPrideMonth is a symptom of a huge problem happening all around us. As the pandemic grew out of control, suddenly, accessibility was the most important thing, and many people found out what it is like for folks with disabilities even without the COVID factor. Now, in a strange global patchwork, able-bodied people are so excited to go “back to normal,” that accessibility is being deleted all over the place. There is a population of people who needed that accessibility long before the able-bodied panicked over how we were supposed to get our groceries. Removing remote learning as a modality from any school is going backwards, and it’s discrimination whether that discrimination is obvious to everyone or not.
